🌐🌐🌐“Sunk Cost Fallacy of the Overlords”🌐🌐🌐
👀When FELONIOUS ACADEMIC meets PROF JIANG👀
👀By FELONIOUS👁ACADEMIC👀
🌐🌐🌐I recently came across prof. Jiang offering up an interesting take,
that perhaps some wealthy people become psychologically trapped by their own investment in a particular way of extravagant living. After decades spent fuckin accumulating money, status, possessions, institutions, and an entire worldview built around winning the game of life,
🌐admitting that the game was meaningless, or that the prize wasn't worth the cost value, could make mortality especially more difficult to confront.
🌐He renders is “The sunk-cost fallacy” of existence,
🌐I goes a lottle something like,
🌐🌐🌐I've spent my entire life building this creation, so I can't ever fuckin possibly admit to the fact that the whole fucking structure was wrong from the git. It's an intriguing theory, at best. But there's a smidge of a problemo. You don't defeat being in a sunken cost by pretending the investment never happened. You defeat that shit by refusing to NEVER let yesterday dictate tomorrows outcome.
🌐That's where the infamous “game-theory” enters the room carrying himself a sledgehammer.
🌐Imagine life as a perpetual game in motion, which the rules change as the current information arrives at the doorstep. A rational player doesn't immediately say,
🌐“I've already spent sixty years pursuing this strategy, therefore I must continue on this fateful ride.”
🌐He looks at the damn dry erase board and asks,
“Given everything I know fuckin now, what is the best maneuver available?”
🌐🌐🌐The previous moves are history. They cannot be recovered, refunded, or replayed. Whether the player owns nothing at all, or owns half the fucking board, the next move is still the next damn move.
🌐🌐🌐Wealth might very well create enormous psychological attachments to an identity that has been blessed from the common mans struggles. but it can also provide the resources to abandon that identity in its entirely. See the theory becomes most dangerous when we confuse attachment to the past with an inability to change the future to come.
🌐And perhaps that's the bigger joke to josh.
🌐🌐🌐We keep trying to explain humanity's terror of death through whatever cultural objective is currently sitting under the microscope lens. money, capitalism, baby boomers, religion, status, material possessions. But strip all that shit away and youll still find the same primitive animal staring back into the same black hole of a pupil.
🌐🌐🌐Even A poor man can desperately want another twenty years to live out. A billionaire can give everything away at cost and still want another twenty at the least. That's Prof. Is not necessarily sunk cost. That's just biology, consciousness, curiosity, love, lifes unfinished business, and the utterly unreasonable human desire we all saliva to keep seeing whats next on the chalking block.
🌐🌐🌐Perhap my friend, maybe the real “sunk-cost fallacy” isn't that the wealthy have invested too much in their lifetime. Maybe it's our unruly insistence that because someone invested heavily in one blimp version of a life, that they must be incapable of changing the whole fucking game via their enviable demise. Last time I checked in with the reaper, Death doesn't care what strategy you played your portfolio amongst. He couldn't give a flying 747 fuck less. But while you're still alive, the board is still yours to play. While knowing father time has NEVER not checkmate his opponents in the end.
